CLUSTERS

Old man winter is losing it. We got snow. We got wind. But he didn’t “huff and puff and blow our house down”. Of course we didn’t stick around to see it.( If I told you every time I was not going to be around for a few days, that is all I would blog about!!!)  We HAD to be in the cities once again, for several reasons, and have now returned to find the driveway plowed, the animals well fed, the heat on and the plumbing not frozen and not once did we have to drive on slick, sleety winter roads. It was a good blizzard. Everything is now white and pristine again. Well, as pristine as it can be with two dogs and numerous cats about. If I don’t get out to see the snow immediately after it is done snowing, I won’t see, in our yard, an unblemished piece of snow. There will be tracks everywhere, gifts of “yellow” snow and other frozen “items” too numerous to mention. Couldn’t do a snow angel if my life depended on it!! Yet it looks pretty and once again the snow fence did it’s job. A valuable invention, to us country folk. to be sure!! This was my kind of blizzard.
Did you know that, scaping and painting all the outbuildings on your property, painting your house, painting your fences every other year, painting all the inside of your house, ripping up all the carpeting upstairs and on the stairs, taking down all the tile in the bathroom as prep work for the plumber, mowing 4 acres and spraying 7, gardening, weeding, harvesting, canning, trimming trees and bushes all summer, feeding animals, cleaning garages, outbuildings, barns, cleaning all the gutters on the house, staining the wood floors on both porches every year and the wood furniture every year, dropping everything to go assist your husband should his assistant be sick, doing all the year end paper work and all the insurance claims, babysitting the granddaughter at a moments notice and so on are not work???? Lucky me! All this time I thought I was working and I was just playing! This implication was made clear to me by a family member over the weekend. Thanks for the heads up because, in addition to once again doing most of those things this year, the fun play thing I will also do this year is removing all the old calk from all of our windows, recalking and painting all the old windows in our house, and scraping and repainting the 2 small sheds on our place AND proably put in a few more gardens. All this by myself. I can hardly wait. What fun!!! Who, in their right mind, would want to go get a paying job” when they are having so much fun? Not me!!!!!!
Our state weekly paper has a wonderful column called “Your 2 cents worth.” It is hilarious. I have been banned from the call list because I call too often. Just kidding!  But I WOULD be!!
Had a super wonderful time with my kids this weekend!! We are all “thrift” store shoppers (except maybe Sherm, who just goes along to be nice most times, although he did find something he really liked this time). I LOVE thrift store shopping. It has gotten so bad that if I have to pay more than $5 for an item I hesitate because it is getting too expensive.  Even thrift stores are raising their prices though. The cities thrift stores are quite a bit more pricey than down here but the selection up there leaves us to shame. I am always surpised, down here, to see other people I know thrift store shopping. Guess everyone wants to save a dime. I have the wonderful opportunity to visit the stores often (because I don’t work) and so can catch more bargains. You ought to try it. You will be amazed at what people throw away!!
Did you know there is blog police? Yep. His name is Herr Sherman. So post often, even if you have nothing to say, or he WILL call.
Well off  to play some more. Hope you are having a good one.
