CRYSTAL BALL

Do you ever wish you had that extra sense? You know, the one that tells you something just isn’t right,  you see things, feel things, dream things. I do. Life can get just a little monotonous so getting a vision every once in a while just sounds like fun to me. Being a firm believer in an afterlife, ghosts, any and all things paranormal, and visitors from other places, you’d think I’d be the perfect fit for some sort of “reading” thing. But alas, I am not. If you asked my husband, he’d say I THINK I can tell what is going to happen and that I act like a mind reader all the time but he’d be being just a wee bit sarcastic. Imagine that.
Don’t know why this has been on my mind lately. Could I be having a vision? Hmmm. And where did the whole “crystal ball” thing come from anyway? I believe my youngest daughter had “the touch”. She used to do Tarot cards and such. She met a woman, and I have forgotten the how or why, but this woman could contact the spirit world. She told my daughter, who will correct me if I am wrong, that she needed to be really careful in the how and where and why when she approached the spirit world as she had a strong connection with it. Spooky to say the least. And I am not sure if this all came about because we had a ghost in our house or not. Our ghost was a he. Someone had died in the house at one time, so I am not sure if this was their ghost, or one that just thought we had a nice house. Interstingly enough, we all knew there were strange occurences but it took a while before we started asking each other if they had experienced what we had. What a relief to know others had heard or witnessed what each of the other ones had!! Our ghost liked heat. It could be the middle of summer and we would come in to find the house hotter than hell, with the heat turned up, or the oven turned on. After one such incident, I asked him to knock it off or leave because it was harming the cats. It quit after that but not his silverware rattling or his stomping on the floor. I cannot count the times the kids would be with their dad for a weekend and I would be sitting downstairs watching TV and he’d go stomping across the kitchen. A quick check to make sure I really didn’t have a visitor, but no, doors and windows all locked. There would be nights when the cat, who slept on my bed, would  bolt up and stare for minutes out into the hallway than lay calmly down and go to sleep. I liked having a friendly ghost. He did not go with us when we moved so I hope the new owners liked him as much as we did.
As far as my own crystal ball this is what I know. We are going to have an early and very cold winter. The birds around our house left a few weeks ago. I have been watching for robins and they are gone. The bugs are coming into the house fast and furious. (Don’t worry kiddos, they will be gone before you visit). I have not seen the fuzzy catepillar whose stripe tells you if it is going to be a cold winter or not. I never can remember if the thick brown stripe means a cold winter or not so even if I did see one I’d only be guessing. The squirrels are very active gathering nuts. Now around our place this could be a defense against having to come down to the ground to get them and chance a meeting with the dogs, but I think it has more to do with winter. Leaves are turning yellow and red already.  And, I don’t know, it just “feels’” like it. Maybe I am more intuitive than I knew.
Have a good one.…and watch out for ghosts!!

Cool, I didn’t want to be the first to say it but there’s been a so called “spirit” in our house too, the old lady that built it, well she is gone now probably out of shock, I haven’t sensed her for a while. On the early winter thing, the acorns around our house started falling two weeks early.
