SNOW SNICKERS

Posted February 26th, 2007 by weskid

I am not a rocket scientist but after the ice storm and HEAVY snow the equation I have worked out is…
A lot of mature trees+heavy ice and snow= a huge mess. Firewood anyone??? Right now we have almost as many branches on the ground as we do in the trees. Crimeny
We have had munchkin grandbaby out during the entire storm. When we lost power the other night she kept asking grandpa to fix the TV because it was “broken”. It was fun if not a little scary hoping the heat and lights would come back on even if it was 3 am and everything we thought we had turned off came roaring back to life. Kuddos to our rural electric…we only lost power for 4 hours. They are amazing.
The munchkin is talking a lot now. She can name all the horses but has trouble with our horse “Colorama” She calls him “Callagrandma” I should be flattered. I make her say it over and over just because it is so cute. She calls her babies “honey” all the time and if they fall she kisses them and says “that will be okay”. Honestly. How do they get from tiny babies to knowing that at 2?? She is also doing really well at time perspective. Today she told me she broke her purple color last night. She did. She also told me she had a “time out” at her sitters. I asked her why and she wouldn’t look at me. I said..“Claire, did you not share your toys?” She still would not look at me. She hates time outs. She also knows darn well when she has done something that needs correcting. Guess she hauled off and slugged the kid for taking her doll. Hmmm. Just mention “time out” and she becomes instantly bashful. She is very strong willed and don’t think her mother holds her accountable for her little wrongs so this is a good thing even if the munchkin does not think so. She has also become fond of saying ” I like” to everything she likes including her grandparents. Don’t know if she knows what it means but when she says it, it is always in the right context. She constantly amazes us with her knowledge of abstract things, things I didn’t think she would know at this age. She is already pretending to go to the store and will pack her bag, throw it on her shoulder and head out with baby in tow. She came back into the living room once because “I forgot my phone” Really. She pretends to eat and pretends to change her babies diapers. Is she supposed to do that at 2? She is a delight every moment.
Well, think they will hardly get the roads cleared when the next storm comes tomorrow night and the few days after that. So…all you people who were loving the warm temps in December and January? Are you happy now??
Rumor has it my stepson is getting called to active duty in the National Guard. They have been put on alert. We are very proud of him and very scared. I will keep you posted.
Well that’s all for now…munchkin is due to wake up and the ice is falling on the roof even as we speak.Give me 12 inches of snow and no ice anytime. Don’t forget…free firewood, you just have to cut up and haul away.
